September is a month loaded with meaning and remembrance. Everyone knows that this is the month we honor America’s workers on Labor Day and the contributions they have made to the development and achievements of the country. During the month of September, we also remember and reflect on the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

September has another special meaning for us at Boundless as we celebrate the anniversary of when we came together as a business. Our first day as a company was the day before that tragic event, September 10, 2001. Imagine three partners excited to begin a new journey and create the first healthcare agency based in the Southwest. One day later, the world stopped. Commerce stopped. A nation mourned and tried to decide how to go forward. I think that event infused a bit of tenacity into our DNA. We had no place to go but forward. Fortunately for us, we had one client who would play an important part in saving lives in the aftermath of 9/11.

Our client had created a device that helped heal wounds in a new and dramatically improved way. We heard the impact of our work directly in the stories told by doctors who were using it to treat victims of the attacks, supported by the communications we had created to spread the word about this critical technology. Countless lives were saved because of that product, and we had played a small part by laying the groundwork of branding, education, and promotion for those physicians to see. That solidified it for me. We were doing something unique. Our purpose was greater than just being another ad agency.

Looking back at all the products we’ve supported, from ophthalmology to oncology, from aesthetics to rare disease, I can see our growth and evolution, but our shared purpose and mission have remained true. Today, I’m proud that we directly support the causes we believe in. They include education on the risk of deadly melanoma, raising funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, feeding the unhoused, and raising awareness of Suicide Prevention Month, which also occurs in September. Our mission is 23 years young and we’re just getting started.

So, September is a big month for us at Boundless and we have many things worthy of remembrance:

Let’s always remember the events of 9/11 and the heroes who responded.

Let’s remember our nation’s incredible labor force.

Let’s remember those who are challenged with depression and suicidal thoughts.

And every day, let’s remember that our mission is to empower others to live a boundless life.
